The CGWA is proud to be one of the driving forces in revamping The Hook. We have partnered with the Port of Hood River and the Hood River Parks and Rec Department to make the Hook a better place. Not only will the Hook be seeing the continuation of the paved waterfront path, its culmination will be at a brand new river access ramp! The outside of the Hook is probably the best place in the Gorge to learn to water-start. With a shallow, sandy area, and the safety of the Hook, we want to make access to this zone easier and nicer looking.
In addition to the path and the ramp, we are working on a grant application to create rigging areas, benches, wind blocks, and more at the end of the Hook road. Here are a few photos of what it looks like now and a potential concept of the ramp.
We are currently in the design and permitting phase. We hope to begin construction in Fall/Winter of 2014/2015. For more information on this exciting project, please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail us.
