Last week the CGWA, the Port of Hood River, and the Hood River Parks Department got together to ceremoniously cut the ribbon, with the help of the Hood River Chamber of Commerce, to our new launch. Please head down to the Hook and check out this great new spot to get in the water! Here are a couple photos:
The Hook is well underway in obtaining its new western edge access ramp. See the photos bellow of the progress as of last week.
Our work on revamping the Hook is finally coming to fruition. Pictured here is the creation of a new, user friendly access ramp on the outside of the Hook. Along with some beach improvements and topside improvements (paved path, rigging area, etc.) to be completed in a future phase, the Hook will continue to improve as a great recreation access point.
The goal is to have a multi-use ramp, that was designed with the intermediate windsurfer in mind. Quick, easy, uniform access to the outside of the Hook makes the site an ideal place to dial in those water-starts before heading out into the middle of the Columbia.
Construction is expected to be finished in timely manner and will be ready for use come summer.
PWA freestyle windsurfer Philip Soltysiak is in town and is going to do a FREE clinic for the CGWA Groms Program and participants of King of the Hook. Come on down to the Hook on Saturday at 3:00PM to perfect, learn, and practice any moves to bust out at King of the Hook, which starts at 5:00PM on Sat.
Space is limited so please e-mail Greg at firstname.lastname@example.org if you will be attending.
Open to kids and adults. Must be a member of the Gorge Groms program to use CGWA gear, OR you can bring your own.
This isn’t from The Gorge, but check out these two sweet edits to get you stoked for the weekend. It looks like wind in the Gorge and on the Oregon Coast this weekend. Go get some!
