“I love the Gorge because it has it all!”
What are you up to these days? After spending the winter in Maui, I have a lot of catching up to do moving back to Hood River. Also getting ready for the first stop of the American windsurfing tour in Santa Cruz beginning of May where I’m going to compete for both women and men amateur.
How do you see the sport of windsurfing evolving in the next 10 years? I see more kids taking interest in this sport and bring it to a new level.
Who are your heroes? I admire Josh Stone’s energy, smile and friendliness on the water. But my favorite woman windsurfer is Hookipa’s Junko Nagoshi. She rips!
Tell us about a windsurf-related accomplishment that you’re proud of: Well, I’ve had a lot of 1st places lately (1st place 2011 Lord of the wind Freestyle, slalom and course racing, 1st place 2010 National championship, 1st place 2010 Pistol wave bash, 1st place freestyle Frenzy and 1st place Gorge Game 2008). But I hope my proudest moments are still to come…. (crossing my fingers for Hookipa contests in the fall).
Do you have a Gorge memory you want to share? I still remember the first time I got to this place, driving across country and being absolutely breath taken by the scenery, by the river and the crazy hard core people around this area. Every once in a while I like to remind myself of this first impression
Have you participated in any CGWA programs or events? I’ve been going to the windfests for several years now. I typically help out with the women’s freestyle clinic and would like to do this again this summer.
Anything else you want to share with us? Thank you for this opportunity!
